About Larry Nguyen

Larry Nguyen grew up around music - his parents sang in the church choir. At 15 a cousin talked him into buying a guitar; it proved too hard, so at 16 he turned to the piano sitting unplayed in the family home, teaching himself from the internet before taking classical lessons for two years.

After the lessons stopped, he kept playing by ear - working out songs from the radio through trial and error, learning to improvise, making up songs he never wrote down. In college he came back to it formally: music theory classes and a music minor. He still didn't think he'd ever do anything with it, and for years at a time as an adult, he didn't.

Then, in the space of a month, his life broke open. His girlfriend of two years ended their relationship. A week later came a phone call: his father was sick, and he needed to fly out. Three weeks after that, his father passed away in the hospital.

Music became the outlet. When he looked for someone to teach him production, nobody took him seriously - even when he offered to pay. So he found a mentor online, learned to produce, and started releasing the songs. They are an honest record of grief and healing, not a manufactured persona - moody, late-night, intimate pop & R&B, written and produced by him, for anyone who needs something real to feel late at night.
